Spreckels Theatre Company is happy to announce auditions for the upcoming production of Beautiful: The Carole King Musical. We invite all actors aged 18 and up to showcase their skills and be part of this incredible musical journey. Spreckels is dedicated to diversity in casting, and we welcome all non-AEA actors to audition. Beautiful: The Carole King Musical will be directed by Sheri Lee Miller with musical direction by Lucas Sherman and choreography by Karen Miles.

Auditions will be Saturday, March 16th from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.

LOCATION:
Spreckels Performing Arts Center
5409 Snyder Lane, Rohnert Park, CA 94928

PRODUCTION DETAILS:
• Rehearsals begin in August, 2024, and will be Sunday through Thursday evenings with added weekend rehearsals during tech week.

• Performance dates are September 27th through October 13th, 2024, Friday and Saturday evenings and Sunday matinees.

WHAT TO PREPARE:
• 16 bars of a pop/upbeat song. Bring sheet music in your key to the audition; an accompanist will be provided.

• A contemporary monologue, no longer than 2 minutes, showcasing your acting skills.

• Bring 2 copies of a current resume and headshot.

 

In person auditions are preferred, however video auditions may be submitted to smiller@rpcity.org no later than 3/16/2024.

Callbacks will be held on Saturday, March 30th, the time is TBD.

In accordance with AB2257 (formerly AB5), all actors will now be engaged as volunteers. Actors may receive volunteer reimbursements not to exceed $600 in a calendar year. Any actor cast will need to register with the City of Rohnert Park as a volunteer, which will include fingerprinting, at no expense to the actor.

Carole King
(18+ to play ages 16-29) An aspiring singer/songwriter. A unique, appealing, funny and vulnerable girl from a Jewish family in Brooklyn. Talented, good natured, unassuming and often the peacemaker in difficult situations. A reluctant star with no pretense and a passion for music.

Gerry Goffin
(18+ to play late teens-late 20’s) Carole’s boyfriend, songwriting partner and eventual husband. Innately sympathetic, wounded and tortured. An ambitious artist always striving for more.

Cynthia Weil
(18+ to play late teens-late 20’s) A songwriter who becomes romantically involved with Barry. Carole’s best friend. She is sophisticated, smart & chic with a quick wit. Although self-confident and sarcastic, she is also extremely likable.

Barry Mann
(18+ to play late teens-late 20’s) A songwriter who becomes romantically involved with Cynthia. He is good natured, appealing & neurotic. Ambitious, but likable.

Don Kirshner
(30’s-40’s) An influential music publisher and producer. He is a fast talking, energetic force of nature. Powerful, direct & sometimes intimidating, but he has a real affinity for his writers and artists. A hit maker.
